The American-Scandinavian Foundation celebrated its 100th anniversary at a Centennial Ball at The Hilton Hotel in New York last night. The Scandinavian houses arrived in style for the event. The ladies dressed to the nine's to honor the century old relationship between the US and Scandinavia.
From Denmark: Crown Princess Mary wore a shimmering metallic long sleeved column gown with an asymetrical neckline. Mary wore her hair up (and it fell out a bit when dancing the night away with her husband), to showcase her gold and black chandelier earrings, and a copper envelope clutch purse. Any woman brave enough to wear a body conscious dress just 10 months after giving birth to twins deserves a lot of credit.
From Norway: Queen Sonja wore a lace and chiffon butter yellow gown, with a multi-strand pearl necklace, pearl bracelet, pearl drop earrings and diamond brooches in her hair and on her bodice. As she walked the dress had this great flow to it, and she seemed to walk on air. If the look seems familiar Queen Sonja wore the same dress and pearls to Crown Princess Victoria's pre-wedding gala.
From Sweden: Queen Silvia wore one of her favorite jewel tone violet satin gown with black lace appliques along with a with matching satin bolero jacket and lots of diamonds: a diamond fringe necklace, diamond bracelets, diamond stud earrings and a diamond brooch in her hair. For Queen Silvia there's never enough diamonds, God bless her.
Princess Madeleine attended the event donning a blush chiffon strapless dress with ruffles on the bodice and a cropped fur bolero when not on stage; loose waves, large gold chandelier earrings, and a Bottega Venetta gold clutch completed the look. Unlike the Queen's the princesses opted for new gowns; this strapless chiffon empire dress shape seems to be a favorite for Madeleine who has worn similar dresses previously.
Who was your best dressed lady at the end?
